Dr. Colleen Beaudoin is a Registered Psychologist, who received her Ph.D. from York University in Clinical Developmental Psychology. Dr. Beaudoin has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinics, educational institutions, and teaching hospitals. She has been working in private practice since 2007 and joined Insight Psychology in January 2015.
Colleen has experience working with a wide range of issues including: mood and anxiety disorders; learning disabilities; developmental disorders; adjustment to life stress, trauma, loss, or change; self-esteem and identity; behavioural and social difficulties; interpersonal patterns; and parenting practices. She provides assessment, treatment, and consultation services for children, adolescents, and families. She has also gained additional training to provide these services to adults, in order to extend her areas of competency to lifespan care.
Although her approach to treatment is largely Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Colleen often incorporates other modalities and is client-centered. Goals are identified and achieved jointly with each individual (and their families, where appropriate). Services are provided in a supportive, confidential, and professional environment. Collaboration with other health or school professionals is always possible.
As an adjunct faculty member at the University of Waterloo, Colleen enjoys supervising graduate students and collaborating with fellow colleagues at The Centre for Mental Health Research and Treatment (CMHRT). Other passions include alpine skiing, playing games with her family, and making time for physical fitness and reading.
