About Insight Psychology

Insight Psychology on Norfolk is a team of psychologists, psychological associates, and allied mental health professionals who work collaboratively to provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment, treatment, and consultation services for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples in Guelph and the surrounding area. We provide services in-person and remotely.

At Insight Psychology, we provide a safe, welcoming environment (online and in-person), where you or your loved ones can gain insight, build resilience, and develop a healthy mind. Our team will work with you to create a plan that meets your specific needs, drawing on our extensive knowledge of assessment, psychological treatment, and therapy.

History

Insight Psychology on Norfolk was founded in 2017 by a team of Psychologists and Psychological Associates who practiced together as part of the Child & Adolescent Services group at Norfolk Psychological Services. The decision to establish a new organization was based on the need to increase and modernize our office space, in order to meet the growing demands for our services in the local community.

Insight Psychology represents a step forward in the growth of our practice group, intended to better address the varied needs of our clients and their families. This new step also includes an expansion of our services to include adult assessment and treatment, providing lifespan care options for our clients.

Vision

A community where psychological resources are available to young people, adults, and families to support and assist them in becoming as resilient and healthy as possible.

We strive to provide the best psychological services to children, adolescents, their families, and our community, rooted in evidence-based, compassionate care.

Respect

We value the uniqueness of each individual child, adolescent, and adult.

Teamwork

We work collaboratively both within our practice and with external partners.

Community Focus

We are strongly invested in and connected to our community.

Collaborative Partnerships

We are dedicated to establishing and maintaining a strong network with community partners in Guelph and the surrounding area.

Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge that Insight Psychology on Norfolk is housed upon the Between the Lakes Purchase (Treaty 3); the treaty lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We are working on the ancestral lands of the Attawandaron/Chonnonton, the Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples. We acknowledge the Dish with One Spoon agreement, to live peacefully on these lands, and to share all.

Many First Nations, Metis, and other Indigenous Peoples from Turtle Island live in Guelph and the surrounding area. We warmly celebrate and respect their world-views, self-determination, and culture. We are thankful for their stewardship and longstanding love for this land.

As psychologists practicing in what is now known as the city of Guelph, we acknowledge that promises have been broken, land has been stolen, and generations of Indigenous people have, and continue to be hurt by settlers on Turtle Island. We are saddened by psychology’s complicit history of racist practices. We endeavor to learn more about these practices and are working to stop harmful actions and support healing and reconciliation.

We are committed to a better understanding of the past and present, and to ensure that future generations can thrive here. It is our responsibility to look for opportunities to join with our Indigenous community members, to support the initiatives that they determine are healing and restorative for them. It is our pledge to listen to Indigenous voices, and if we are invited into Indigenous clients’ lives, to provide psychological services that are safe and welcoming.
