Dr. Linda Bream is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She received her doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Waterloo. She began her career at the Canadian Mental Health Association, as the discipline consultant in psychology, and has been practicing in Guelph for over 25 years.
Linda’s role at Insight Psychology on Norfolk is to provide both assessment and treatment to children and their families for a wide variety of learning and mental health issues. Linda provides in-depth psychological and psychoeducational assessments that help to identify how children learn and why they struggle emotionally to provide concrete strategies about how to make changes.
Linda believes that helping parents to understand their children is the first step in any effective treatment. She uses an eclectic approach in treating children and youth, employing principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Interpersonal Therapy.
With a background in developmental psychology, Linda also provides consultations to parents of children of all ages regarding normal developmental transitions and adjustments to major life events.
Linda has raised two daughters and she enjoys long walks in the woods with her dog, Jasper.
Please Note: Dr. Bream will be transitioning to an emeritus position at Insight in April of 2023. In this role she will primarily be supervising psychology graduate students as well as junior or early career psychologists and will not be taking on new clients.
