Dr. Gregory Simpson is a Registered Psychologist specializing in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on working with children, adolescents, and parents. He has extensive experience providing both therapy and psychological assessments. Greg earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from American University in 2003 and completed his clinical specialization at University of Miami. His advanced training includes child development, psychotherapy, and diagnostic assessment.

In his clinical work, Greg is known for being warm, approachable, and compassionate. He strives to create a supportive environment where children, teens, and families feel comfortable, understood, and respected. His assessments are thorough and thoughtful, helping families gain meaningful insight and guiding effective treatment planning for a wide range of psychological, emotional, and educational concerns.

At Insight Psychology, Greg uses an integrative therapeutic approach that draws from cognitive-behavioral, relational, and developmental models, including CBT, ACT, EFFT, and PCIT. He works with individuals and families experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, learning differences, and parent-child relationship challenges. Families often appreciate his warmth, integrity, and collaborative style, which help young people feel empowered and supported throughout the therapeutic process.

In addition to his clinical practice, Greg is a faculty member in the Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology program within the Department of Psychology at University of Guelph. In this primarily supervisory role, he has spent more than 10 years training graduate students in child and adolescent assessment and therapy. Before that, he accumulated over a decade of experience providing clinical services, conducting research and training early-career clinicians at the Mailman Center for Child Development at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami.

Greg lives in Waterloo with his wife, their two adult children, and a very friendly doodle. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching minor hockey and has coached both of his children’s teams over the past decade. He also plays hockey himself and enjoys staying active through tennis, pickleball, running, and skiing with his friends and family. In his free time, he especially enjoys cooking (and mostly eating) meals with his wife.
